SCITT (teacher training)

SCITT Ambassador School - train to teach here!

We are delighted to be a partner school for South Farnham and George Abbot SCITTs.

South Farnham SCITT delivers Ofsted outstanding school-based initial teacher training for primary and secondary teachers across London and the Southeast, in partnership with George Abbot SCITT. In true collaboration, the coming together of two Ofsted outstanding SCITTs, each with over 20 years’ experience leading ITT and a shared vision to recruit and train the outstanding teachers of the future, brings stability and continuity to our local primary and secondary school workforce.

Through an extensive and diverse partnership of schools, primary and secondary trainees are placed into geographically organised cohorts across the London Boroughs and Southeast, minimising travel for trainees and allowing applicants to train and work in their local community.

Our teacher training programmes have children’s best interests at the core. Working as a true partnership, we strive to develop best practice so that children across the region experience teaching of the highest quality, underpinned by outstanding research-based training and development opportunities for all.

As a school, we are proud to be supporting the recruitment, training and development of future teachers across our region. To find out more please see our interactive brochure, visit our websites SF SCITT / George Abbot SCITT

"We are an 'Outstanding Provider' with an enviable track record of proven excellence in training. We have created a distinctive programme of initial teacher training, working with some of the best senior leaders and class teachers in the area. We have an invested interest in ‘growing our own’ teachers, spotting talent and raw potential in local schools, then coaching and nurturing trainee teachers towards employment in local schools as excellent practitioners.

We offer a high quality, school led route into achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through the provision of School Centred Initial Teacher Training. The one–year programme is full time, based at the Fareham and Gosport Primary SCITT, with the majority of time being spent working alongside an expert class based practitioner in a partner school.

The training programme is designed to support trainee teachers to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). On successful completion of the programme, trainee teachers will be recommended for QTS by Fareham and Gosport Primary SCITT and awarded PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) by the University of Roehampton.
