PTA - HAFS

HAFS (Herne Association of Families and Staff)

We are a group of interested parents and staff who organise social and fundraising events to provide extra money for equipment and school trips. Our current fundraising focus is to provide more facilities outside for the children.

We would love to hear your comments, suggestions and feedback regarding anything to do with HAFS

We are always looking for new people to come and help at our events, to provide ideas, or carry out small tasks for us.  If you can provide any help at all, however large or small, then please contact us.

If you would like to keep up to date with HAFS and you haven’t already joined the HAFS Facebook page, please search for HAFS (Herne Association of Families and Staff). If you would like to volunteer or get involved, please email hafs.contact@gmail.com

Georgina Jenkins (Co-Chair)

Georgina has a daughter in year 5 (Cedar) and a son joining the school in September.  She works full time for a London based membership body in Event Management and hopes to bring lots of events knowledge to HAFS in the coming years.  Georgina has many years’ experience in social media, marketing and design and looks forward to supporting the school via HAFS.

Gemma Moore (Co-Chair)

INFO to follow

Christopher McGurk (Co-Treasurer)

Chris has his daughter Lauryn in Yr 5, Cedar class and is always impressed with the frequency and dedication with which the HAFS committee produce termly events for pupils and families alike to participate in. With an Armed Forces background of some 20yrs, is confident he has strong organisational skills with a pro-active 'can do' attitude that he can bring to the committee in helping them to achieve their yearly aims. Nothing can compare to the free-phys elements that the 'Santa dash' brings to Herne's community every December!

Anna McGurk (Co-Treasurer)

Anna has a daughter in Cedar, Year 5 and has a long history with Herne Junior school as not only did her son (now aged 24) attend the school but she also did alongside her 2 siblings!  Anna currently works full time and her role is heavily based around reconciliation, budget planning, P&L’s and management reporting so she is hoping this will bring some assistance to the HAFS team to aid with the financial side of the amazing events the team run.

Kate Duthie (Co-Treasurer)

Kate has a son in year five. She has always been interested in HAFS and enjoyed her time on the committee last year, helping out at events and being co-secretary. She has now stepped into the role as co-treasurer and is keen to bring her administrative skills to the committee to ensure the school and children get the much-needed funds and fun they deserve.

Gillian Young (Co-Secretary)

Gillian has a son in Year 5 and a daughter in Year 1 at Petersfield Infant School. She is looking forward to continuing to support HAFS committee members with secretarial/admin duties; as well as bringing some organisational and party decorating skills!

Joanne Ball (Co-Secretary)

Jo has a daughter in year 3. During school hours, she works as an occupational therapist with people with learning disabilities. She is hoping to contribute her energy and ideas to HAFS. She’s looking forward to helping HAFS to plan and organise some fun events this year and to raise funds for the kids.
